Chicago, Ill.- Former UIC back Jay DeMerit and his fellow U.S. Men's National Team members celebrated a big 2-1 comeback win over Mexico on Sunday to claim the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup at Soldier Field in front of an electric crowd of 60,000.

DeMerit, who played in the English Premier League with Watford FC last season, earned two caps during the tournament.

Last Friday U.S. Soccer announced that DeMerit was selected to its roster for the Copa America competition that begins this week in Venezuela.
