Charleston, S.C. - The UIC volleyball team (1-2) fell to Charlotte in its opening match in the College of Charleston Invitational on Friday afternoon in three games (20-30, 17-30, 24-30). Sophomore Katerina Hanackova powered the Flames with 12 kills, nine digs and two service aces.
Sophomore Lana Lobdell recorded a team-high .375 attack percentage, while junior Christin Hunt totaled two blocks.
Charlotte's Cori Dayton led the 49ers with 20 kills and a .447 attack percentage. Alma Arroyo was two digs shy of a double-double with 15 kills and eight digs.
Charlotte posted a .386 clip in game one with 21 kills to take the early 1-0 advantage (30-20).
The 49ers continued its strong offensive showing in game two with a .484 attack percentage. Charlotte only committed three errors to top UIC, 30-17.
UIC kept game three tight, but Charlotte eventually completed the sweep with a 30-24 victory.
The Flames wrap up day one of the tournament with a matchup against host College of Charleston at 6:00 p.m.
