Cleveland, Ohio- A rough shooting night hindered the UIC men's basketball team in a 68-51 loss at Cleveland State at the Wolstein Center on Saturday.
Robert Bush scored 12 points and Josh Mayo added 11 for UIC (8-7, 2-2 Horizon League). Scott VanderMeer also blocked five shots for the Flames.
J'Nathan Bullock scored a game-high 16 points for the host Vikings (10-5, 3-0 Horizon League).
The Flames would lead by as many as six early in the first half, but Cleveland State used a 13-2 run in the middle of the period to take a lead it would never relinquish.
UIC shot 33.3 percent (10-for-30) in the first half. It didn't get better for the Flames in the second half, as UIC went just 6-for-26 (23.1 percent) from the floor in the game's final 20 minutes.
UIC returns home for a three-game homestand that begins on Jan. 12 against crosstown rival Loyola at 7:00 p.m.
