Chicago, Ill. - The Loyola volleyball team snapped UIC's four-match winning streak on Saturday night at Alumni Gym with a 3-0 sweep (22-25, 23-25, 18-25) over the Flames.
UIC's Casie Sullivan totaled a team-best seven kills, while libero Emily Schaffer recorded eight digs.
Sarah Singer led Loyola's attack with 12 kills.
Following an early UIC (11-13, 4-7) lead in the first set, Loyola (16-7, 6-5) tied the match at 10 each with a 5-2 run. The lead changed several times before Loyola recorded three straight points in the final frame to help guide the Ramblers to a 25-22 win.
UIC chipped away at Loyola's lead in the second set to get within one point midway through the frame, but the Ramblers pulled away with a 6-1 run to take a five-point advantage. The Flames cut the deficit to one point late, but Loyola answered with the final kill of the set for the 25-23 victory.
The Ramblers held UIC to a .098 attack percentage in set three. Loyola controlled the set after jumping out to an early 13-4 lead. The Flames put up six consecutive points halfway through the set, but Loyola regained the momentum to capture the sweep (25-18).
UIC faces Wright State in its final regular-season road match on Saturday, Nov. 1.
