Chicago, Ill. - The UIC volleyball team suffered a setback on Saturday afternoon as the Flames fell to Valparaiso in three sets at home.
UIC's Casie Sullivan recorded her third straight double-digit kill contest with 10 against the Crusaders. Epiphany Davis picked up four blocks, while Jessica Dalke totaled a team-best seven digs.
Valparaiso's (21-6, 11-4) Angie Porche continued to dominate offensively for the Horizon League with a match-high 17 kills.
With a one-point advantage halfway through the first set, Valpo extended its lead with an 11-4 run. The Crusaders used the momentum to cruise to a 25-17 win.
Tied at 20-20, Valpo went on a 5-2 burst late in the second set to earn the three-point victory (25-22).
The lead changed several times in the first frame of set three before the Flames (12-15, 5-0) posted a 9-6 run to take a 19-16 advantage. Knotted at 24 each, the Flames recorded two straight errors to hand Valparaiso the sweep (26-24).
UIC steps out of league play on Tuesday, Nov. 11 when they host SIU-Edwardsville at 7 p.m.
