Chicago, Ill. - Both the UIC men's and women's gymnastics team put on a wide array of strong performances at the annual Mixed Pairs competition Sunday evening, showing off talent set to have an outstanding 2009 season.
The yearly event puts five teams comprised of both men's and women's competitors against each other in all events throughout the afternoon.
The team of Andrea Skala, Christine Girard, Alex Bymaster, Anthony May and Bobby Solomon took home the exhibition title after achieving an average of 11.74 on the afternoon. The squad featured a blend of all classes, as Skala and Bymaster are in their first season with UIC, and veterans May and Solomon will close out their Flames careers as seniors in 2009.
Both the men's and women's teams open their 2009 campaigns at home in January, with the women kicking things off against Auburn on Sunday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. and the men play host to the 39th Windy City Invite on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.
