Chicago, Ill.- The regular season home finale for the UIC men's basketball team takes place this Wednesday night as the Flames take on No. 8 Butler at the UIC Pavilion beginning at 7 p.m. Central.
Adam Levinson and UIC great Kenny Williams will have the call live online at uicflames.com via Stretch Internet Radio.
The Flames (14-12, 8-7 Horizon League) will have plenty on the line against the Bulldogs (24-2, 13-2 Horizon League). UIC is still in the hunt for a No. 3 seed in the Horizon League Tournament and a first round home game.
Ranked eighth in both the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll and the AP Top 25, Butler is the highest ranked team in Horizon League history and the only ranked team to come to the Pavilion this late in a season.
The last time these two teams met at the Pavilion, UIC came away with a 73-67 overtime win over the No. 12 Bulldogs on Jan. 10, 2007. Josh Mayo scored 19 points and hit a huge three-pointer in the extra session to propel the Flames to victory.
The Flames are 2-1 all-time against ranked teams at home, with wins over No. 12 Butler last year and No. 25 Michigan State in 1989. UIC's only home loss to a nationally-ranked team came by one point against No. 3 Georgia Tech in the 2004-05 opener.
UIC has been stellar at home with an 11-1 record at the Pavilion this year. The Flames have shot 50 percent or better from the field nine times at home and score over 10 more points at home (80.0 ppg) than their overall scoring average (69.8 ppg).
Prior to the game UIC will honor seniors Robert Bush, Jermaine Dailey, Ebenezer Noonoo and Karl White Jr. as part of Senior Night festivities.
