Detroit, Mich. - Despite Jessie Miller picking up her first career double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, the UIC women's basketball team fell to Detroit, 55-51, on Thursday night at Calihan Hall.
Shanice Sadler tied her season-high with 12 points. Briana Hinkle followed with 11 points
Detroit (5-21, 2-13) got within two points on a three-pointer by Dunlop at the 11:01 mark in the first half. Kealy McNally then tied up the game (16-16) on two successful trips to the free throw line. Scoreless for over six minutes, the Flames (9-17, 5-10) regained the lead on a trey from Sadler with 1:13 on the clock.
NcNally gave the Titans a one-point advantage (20-19) heading into the break on a layup in the final seconds of the first half.
The Titans sparked an 8-0 run to start the second half. The Flames drained seven straight, knotting up the game for the third time on a breakaway layup from Meghan Hutchens with 11:52 remaining in regulation.
The Titans recorded a 6-2 burst to lead by nine with 1:58 on the clock. The Flames got within four points twice before Detroit sealed the victory.
Junior Zemora Davis notched a game-high 15 points, while sophomore Heather Hatter pulled down a team-best eight boards.
UIC faces Wright State in its final regular season road game on Saturday, March 1 at 12 p.m. CST.
