Volleyball Falls Short Against Louisville On Saturday Afternoon

Chicago, Ill. - After falling in the first set, Louisville bounced back to top the UIC volleyball team, 3-1, on the final day of the Chicago Classic at Mother McAuley on Saturday afternoon.

Lana Lobdell was impressive offensively for the Flames with 14 kills and a .444 attack percentage. Jessica Dalke totaled a season-high nine digs.

Tatyana Kolesnikova led the Cardinals with 24 kills and a match-high .550 attack percentage. Lecia Brown dominated at the net with five blocks.

Tied at 10-10 in set one, UIC recorded an 11-6 run to take an early lead. The two teams matched points until the Flames sparked a short 3-1 burst to capture the set victory, 25-19.

Louisville held UIC to a zero attack percentage, while recording a .400 clip to even the match at 1-1. The Cardinals led by seven midway through the set (21-13) before UIC notched three straight points to get within six. Louisville responded with a 3-2 run for the 25-18 win.

The Cardinals recorded a .500 attack percentage in set three. Louisville only allowed UIC to get within six points late in the set in order to take a 2-1 advantage in the match (25-10).

Louisville sealed the match victory with another stellar offensive showing in set four. The teams were tied at 12-12, but the Cardinals notched six straight points for an 18-12 lead, eventually topping the Flames (25-18) in the final set.

UIC faces Illinois State in its final match of the tournament at 5:30 p.m. tonight.
