Chicago, Ill. - The UIC volleyball team dominated Chicago State in its home opener with its second sweep of the season on Tuesday night.
As a team, the Flames (3-3) recorded a .270 attack percentage with five total blocks.
Epiphany Davis led UIC's offense with 13 kills and career-high .600 attack percentage. Davis also picked up two blocks against the Cougars.
Dana Van Syckle and Katerina Hanackova each registered 14 digs, while Hanackova also totaled a team- and season-best four service aces.
Shamara Clark was Chicago State's offensive leader with six kills.
UIC coasted to a 25-14 victory in set one with a .314 attack percentage. The Flames held Chicago State to a 0.31 clip and forced the team to commit five errors.
The Flames continued its aggressive offense in set two. Leading 16-10, UIC recorded a 9-4 run to hand the Cougars their second 25-14 loss of the match.
Down by six midway through the third set, Chicago State sparked a 7-1 burst to tie the game at 17-17. The Cougars knotted the set one more time before the Flames kicked their game into high gear and posted a 7-1 run for the match victory (25-19).
UIC faces Penn State, Louisville and Illinois State at the Chicago Classic at Mother McAuley this weekend on Sept. 12-13.
