DETROIT, Mich.- The UIC men's soccer team suffered a 4-2 loss at the hands of Detroit at Titan Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Flames close the regular season 6-6-6 and 3-3-2 in the Horizon League.
Detroit (5-12-1, 2-6-1 Horizon League) opened the scoring in the 29th minute on Kevin Pinkos' close-range header off of Nate Robinson's free kick.
The Flames equalized moments later, when Charlie Trout's free kick found a home in the confines of the net in the 31st minute.
Less than two minutes later it was another free kick by Robinson that set up a Detroit goal, this time a header by Ken Simon going into the frame that gave the Titans a 2-1 halftime advantage.
Detroit scored twice more early in the second half thanks to Robinson. He sent in a corner kick that was pushed past Jovan Bubonja by Pat Lepera in the 52nd minute, and in the 56th minute he scored a goal of his own on a breakaway for a five-point day.
Rookie Joe Radice cut the deficit down to two in the 77th minute by scoring his first collegiate goal, but that's as close as the Flames could get.
UIC out-shot Detroit 16-9, but Titan keeper Martin Robertson was able to cease nine of the Flames' 11 attempts against target.
The Flames will officially learn their Horizon League tournament seeding fate following the conclusion of league play on Saturday.
