CHICAGO- Following an exciting comeback victory over Oregon State, the UIC men's basketball team will seek to establish its first winning streak of the year when the Flames hosts in-state rival Northern Illinois at the UIC Pavilion this Saturday afternoon.
Tip-off between the Flames (2-6) and the Huskies (1-6) is slated for 3 p.m.
Call 312-413-UIC1 (8421) and say "WE BEAT THE BEAVERS" and you will receive your choice of a FREE Flames blanket or scarf by purchasing a minimum of two tickets to any UIC men's or women's basketball game this weekend, including Saturday's game against Northern Illinois.
The game will air live on ESPN Radio 1000 AM, with Adam Levinson on the call, Kenny Williams providing commentary and Jordan Bernfield serving as the in-game host.
The radio broadcast will also be streamed live on ESPNChicago.com.
Fans can watch the game live on the Horizon League Network at www.horizonleaguenetwork.tv.uic.
The Flames have been led of late by the reignited Robo Kreps. The junior guard scored 19 in the win over Oregon State, pouring in eight during the game's final 2:53 and making the go-ahead basket with 5.6 seconds remaining in the contest.
Kreps is averaging 18.5 ppg in the last two games and is tied for the team lead in scoring with 14.1 ppg.
Senior guard Spencer Stewart has also given the offense a big lift, averaging 8.0 assists in his last two games.
Saturday renews a rivalry that last saw a meeting between UIC and NIU in 2006-07. This will be the Huskies' first trip to the Pavilion since 2005-06.
