Box Score

Milwaukee, Wis. - The UIC women's basketball team ran into an inspired Milwaukee side on Saturday afternoon as the Panthers made `Senior Day' a memorable one for its five outgoing players with a 70-49 victory over the Flames at the Klotsche Center.

With five seniors playing in their final regular season home game, it was sophomore Lindsay Laur who came off the bench to lead Milwaukee (12-14, 7-8) with 15 points. Senior Turquoise McCain added 13 points while Traci Edwards totaled 11 points, seven rebounds and five steals in the win.

Despite the blizzard conditions outside prior to tip, Milwaukee came out of the locker room hot, going on a 10-2 run to open the game. The Panthers would not look back, building a 34-17 heading into halftime and then increasing their advantage to as many as 24 points in the second half.

Freshman Jasmine Bailey led UIC (13-12, 7-7) with 10 points and seven rebounds. Fellow freshman Heidi Dahnke scored a career-high nine points off the bench.

Junior Jessie Miller, who finished with eight points and six steals, reached a personal milestone as she became the 14th player in school history to score 1,000 career points, reaching the plateau on a bank shot in the lane with 3:22 left in the game.

The Flames return home next week to open a two-game home-stand at the Flames Athletic Center by welcoming Cleveland State on Thursday at 7 p.m.
