Chicago, Ill. - The UIC women's basketball team overcame a seven-point, second-half deficit against Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon, rallying past the visiting Penguins, 68-64, at the Flames Athletic Center.

Junior Jessie Miller led the way for the Flames (14-13, 8-8) with a game-high 24 points. Miller, who notched her third straight 20-plus scoring effort against Youngstown State (2-25, 0-16), scored 16 points in the second half to spark UIC's comeback.

The Flames trailed the Penguins, 35-28, with 16:52 remaining following a jumper by YSU's Camisha Alexander.

UIC would pick up its defensive pressure which in turn ignited its offense as the Flames went on a 14-0 run, aided by seven points from Miller, over the next three minutes to take a seven-point lead they would not relinquish.

Freshman Jasmine Bailey scored 11 points and added five rebounds for UIC in the win, while Shameia Green chipped with 10 points. Senior Meghan Hutchens, playing in her final regular season home game, led the team with a season-high eight rebounds.

For the second straight game UIC was very efficient from the foul line, converting 18-of-21 charity tosses.

Alexander paced Youngstown State with 18 points.

Prior to the game, UIC honored its three seniors, Hutchens, Ashley Hluska and Nikki Grobbecker, playing in their final home game.

The Flames will be back in action on Thursday, March 5 as they take on Detroit in the Motor City.
