CHICAGO - For the second time in four days, the UIC women's gymnastics team defeated MIC rival Illinois State, this time in the confines of the PEB on Saturday evening.
The Flames had season-best team performances on the beam and floor for a 194.100 score, the highest mark of the season thus far. Illinois State finished the out the evening with a 192.325 total.
Annie Kachman continues to improve weekly in the all-around, topping the competition with 39.000, including a victory on the uneven bars (9.800), while fellow senior Zandre Labuschagne placed first on the beam (9.825).
DeAvera Todd had a stellar outing against the Redbirds, notching her second 9.9 performance on the beam this season for the win. Two events later, the junior set a personal-best on the floor, dazzling the crowd with a 9.25 routine.
UIC heads south next weekend down I-57 to face sister school Illinois in Champaign on March 7 at 2 p.m.
