CHICAGO- The UIC men's basketball team suffered a 64-47 loss at the hands of Wright State on Saturday inside the UIC Pavilion.
Zavion Neely scored 14 to lead the Flames (5-9, 1-3 Horizon League), who had a two-game winning streak snapped.
Vaughn Duggins scored 17 to pace the Raiders (10-5, 3-1 Horizon League).
The Flames were playing their fourth game in seven days, but they weren't about to let that be the reason for their lethargic play on Saturday.
"No excuses," said UIC head coach Jimmy Collins. "We have beaten some good teams and played some good basketball this season. We need to grow from this game."
Robo Kreps, who was held to just five points after a career-high 31-point effort on Thursday, agreed.
"You can say we were tired and use that as an excuse, but we just didn't play well offensively or defensively," Kreps said.
UIC led by as many as six in the early going, but Wright State methodically chipped away and eventually took a four-point lead into the break.
Kreps made a layup in the opening moments of the second half to close the gap to two. That's when Wright State went on a 7-0 run and eventually built a lead of 15 by the midway point of the period.
The Flames could only shoot 25 percent (7-for-28) in the final 20 minutes, hurting any chance at a rally.
UIC heads to Ohio next weekend for a two-game league road swing, beginning on Thursday night at Youngstown State.
