DES MOINES, Iowa - The UIC women's tennis team improved to 4-2 on the season when they defeated Drake 4-3 at Roger Knapp Tennis Center on Sunday.

In doubles play, the Flames team of Mariya Kovaleva and Kristen McPhillips claimed the doubles point by defeating the Bulldogs team of Gabriela Demos and Manca Krizman 9-7.

McPhillips earned the match winning point for UIC, defeating Jessica Aguilera in two straight sets in singles play (6-3, 6-3).

Kovaleva and Amy Jellish were also victorious in singles play, helping the Flames to their fourth win of the season.

UIC will host Eastern Illinois at the Evergreen Racquet Courts for a Valentine's Day showdown on Feb.14 at 10 a.m.
