MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The UIC women's tennis team started conference play on Saturday with a 7-0 win over Horizon League opponent Milwaukee and defeated Green Bay 7-0 on Sunday.
Mariya Kovaleva was 2-0 in singles play throughout the weekend, allowing just four games in two matches.
On Saturday, Kovaleva defeated the Panther's Kelly Drvaric 6-1 in set one, then took set two 6-2 to start out the weekend. The sophomore finished the weekend with a two set win over Phoenix's Emily Lawent.
Elena Antakova allowed just three games in her two singles matches over weekend, going 2-0 against conference opponents this season.
Antakova defeated Milwaukee's Sammi Schoen in two straight sets on Saturday, and allowed just one game in her 6-0, 6-1 win over Green Bay's Lauryn Grimando on Sunday.
In doubles play, the Flames went six-for-six on the weekend.
The two wins extends UIC's winning streak against Horizon League opponents to 115 straight.
The Flames continue conference play when they travel to Detroit, Mich. to take on Horizon League foe Detroit on Sunday March 28.
