Final Stats
CHICAGO - The UIC women's gymnastics team defeated Northern Illinois193.275-192.575 in the Flames last home meet of the season at the UIC Physical Education Building on Saturday.
Chantel Turk finished the meet with the top scores in vault and floor, posting a 9.875 on vault and a near perfect score on floor with a 9.900.
Turk also scored a 9.4 on the beam and finished the meet in third place in the all-around with a score of 37.925.
On beam, Emily Fiorilli and Andrea Skala tied for the top spot with a 9.725.
Skala took home top honors in the all-round for UIC, finishing in the top three in all four events. The sophomore finished third on vault and second on bars and floor.
Skala scored a 39.125 in the all-around, which was her first 39 score of the 2010 season.
Rachel Montoya rounded the day out for the Flames on the mats, posting an all-around scored of 38.825 for second place.
On the floor, all six UIC competitors scored higher than 9.6, which lifted the team to victory.
"It's starting to come together," said head coach Peter Jansson. "Yes, it's late in the year but the girls are starting to feel like their hard work is paying off and that's great to see."
The Flames will travel to Denver, Colo. to take on Denver on Saturday March 13 at 6 p.m.
