CHICAGO - The UIC women's basketball team (6-4) defeated the Roosevelt Lakers (7-7), 78-58, Monday night inside the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Ill. Redshirt junior Heidi Dahnke (Martinsville, Ill./Martinsville) had a strong showing as she logged three career-high numbers in points with 15, rebounds with nine and assists with three. The Lakers were paced by senior Peggie Prahas with 21 points on 7-of-10 three-point shooting.

Four additional Flames' players posted double-digit performances in the contest. Senior Jasmine Bailey (St. Louis, Mo./Normandy) had 19 points to lead the UIC and record her 13th-straight double-digit scoring output. Cree Nix (Atlanta, Ga./Greater Atlanta Christian) recorded 12 tallies, Kiara Strickland (Minneapolis, Minn./Roosevelt) chipped in 11 and Taylor Foulks (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) dropped in 10.

Nix gave the Flames a fast start as she knocked down a jumper to start the game. UIC went on an 8-0 run, which was spurred by Dahnke, who knocked down a pair of free throws, followed by a jump shot. The run was closed out with buckets from Bailey and Foulks to place the score at 13-2 with 16:35 remaining in the half.

The Flames closed out the first half of play on an 11-4 run, which included a three-point play by Dahnke to give UIC a 44-25 lead over the Lakers with just under five minutes left in the first stanza. Sophomore Kierra Robinson (Champaign, Ill./Champaign Central) closed out the first half of action with a jumper to give the Flames a hefty advantage (50-27) heading into the locker room, which marks the most points the Flames have score in a single half this season.

Bailey led all players in points in the first half with 13, while Dahnke tallied 11 points and pulled down six rebounds.

UIC outscored Roosevelt 14-8 to begin the second half as Bailey and Nix both added four points apiece. The Flames garnered a 29-point lead (60-31) with 13:59 left in the game.

Despite three consecutive treys from Roosevelt's Parhas, Foulks dialed up her brand of three-ball followed by back-to-back jump shots from Strickland and senior Shamiea Green (St. Louis/Normandy) for a 78-55 UIC lead, before closing the contest at 78-58. UIC's final tally serves as the most points the team has scored in a game this season.

The Flames return to action inside the UIC Pavilion Thursday as they take on Eastern Illinois at 7:00 p.m. (CT).
