The UIC women's gymnastics team triumphed over league-foe Illinois State, 193.475-192.925, Saturday night in a home dual meet. Four seniors were honored after the meet for their four years of service to the program. This year's seniors include Emily Fiorilli, Christine Girard, Karen Morales and Sarah Murray.
"It was a bittersweet victory," said Head Coach Peter Jansson. "We made some mistakes that you shouldn't make at this point in the season, but it's always nice to get the win."
The highlight of the evening came in the floor exercise as senior Sarah Murray posted a career-best score of 9.9. She won the event as teammates Andrea Skala and Chantel Turk tied-for-second with a score of 9.8.
Freshman Cynthia Lemieux-Guillemette took home the all-around title with a mark of 39.050, recording back-to-back 39-plus totals in the last two meets. Lemieux posted the meet's top tally on the balance beam with a score of 9.875 and placed second on the bars with a mark of 9.750.
Along with placing second in the floor exercise, Turk triumphed on the vault as she notched a score of 9.800.
UIC will partake in its final meet of the season as they travel to Northern Illinois next weekend, competing in the Illinois Classic.
