CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Senior Andrea Skalacaptured the all-around title, leading the UIC women's gymnastics team to a convincing 195.250-191.900 win over Southeast Missouri at Houck Field House in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Saturday.

"It was a great day for the Flames with a season-high score, and another win against a conference foe," co-head coach Peter Jansson said. "Cynthia tied her personal best on bars and beam, while Gabrielle (May) and Andrea (Skala) had excellent performances on vault. It was exciting for Kim (Randall) to make her collegiate debut. I am extremely proud of the team this week."

Skala tied for first in both the vault and floor exercise, posting respective scores of 9.825 and 9.800. She defeated SEMO's Megan Fosnow for the all-around title, 39.125-38.525. Overall, the Flames tallied the top finishers in two-of the four team events, including the top-four performers in the uneven parallel bars.

In the vault, freshman Gabrielle May and Skala shared the top score, tallying a meet-best 9.825. In the aforementioned uneven parallel bars, sophomore Cynthia Lemieux-Guillemette led the way with a 9.875, while junior Chantel Turk (9.825), senior Rachel Montoya (9.800) and Skala (9.800) rounded out the top-four scores.

Lemieux-Guillemette tied for first in the balance beam (9.875), as the Flames tallied five-of the top six individual scores in the event. Sophomore Catherine Dion finished third with a 9.850, while junior Erin Duggan tallied a 9.750. Skala and junior Emily Lawrence posted scores of 9.700 and 9.550 to finish fifth and sixth, respectively.

The Flames also dominated the floor exercise, recording five-of the top-six individual scores. Skala tied for first with a 9.800, while Turk posted a 9.775, and Lemieux-Guillemette, Dion and May all tallied scores of 9.700.

Both teams will compete in a split-squad schedule next weekend (Feb. 10-11), at the respective Chicagoland Championships and Iowa State Classic.
