CHICAGO - The UIC women's gymnastics team handled 18th-ranked Illinois 195.250-193.975 Saturday inside the Physical Education Building in Chicago, Ill.
The Flames began the meet on the vault, where Chantel Turk (Hazelcrest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) and Kimberly Randall (Lansing, Ill./Skyline Gymnastics) posted 9.850 to lead the squad in the event. From there, the team moved to the parallel bars, and Andrea Skala (Brookfield, Ill./Flying High Sports) was the first-place finisher in the event with a 9.800.
Moving into the second half of competition, Catherine Dion (Gatineau, Quebec, Canada/ Nicolas-Gatineau) posted a 9.800 on beam, while Turk gave a 9.850 performance on her floor routine to assist the Flames to the victory over the Fighting Illini.
Skala claimed a second-place finish in the all-around competition with a 39.100.
The Flames return to action in another Big Ten match up Friday as the squad faces Michigan State Friday at 7:00 p.m. (CT) in East Lansing, Mich.
