CHICAGO - The UIC women's gymnastics team advanced two spots to a No. 26 national ranking after its performance at Michigan State (March 2), where the team posted a 195.175 against the Spartan squad inside the Jenison Field House in East Lansing, Mich. The rankings were released Monday morning.

Despite Michigan State topping UIC, 195.550-195.175, there were several notable Flames performances. Junior Chantel Turk (Hazelcrest, Ill./Gym Kinetics), who finished first on the vault for the UIC squad with a 9.825. Senior co-captain Andrea Skala (Brookfield, Ill./Flying High Sports) and sophomore Cynthia Lemieux-Guillemette (St. Hubert, Quebec/Gym Richelieu) tied for second place on the parallel bars with a 9.850 score.

Catherine Dion (Gatineau, Quebec/Gymelites Gymnastique) claimed the top score on the balance beam with a 9.875. Lemieux-Guillemette finished in the top spot for the Flames as she posted a 9.800. Skala competed in the all-around event, where she compiled a 39.100.

The 195.175 score ranks as the team's second-highest score of the season as the Flames have tallied a season-high 195.250 twice, once in a victory over Southeast Missouri State and again over Illinois.

The Flames return to action Saturday against conference foe, Centenary, at 7:00 p.m. (CT) inside the Golden Dome in Shreveport, La.
