CHICAGO - Freshman cross country standout Billy Clink has been named the UICFlames.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Aug. 27-Sept 2. Clink also earned the Horizon League's first Runner of the Week award for the 2012 season with his performance at the UIC Homer Opener last Saturday.
In his first collegiate race, Clink paced the men's squad to a team title over four other schools, including Horizon League-foes Green Bay and Milwaukee. The Elmhurst, Ill., native, earned runner-up honors as an individual with an overall time of 21:11.30 in the 4.1-mile race, missing the top spot by less than 13 seconds.
Cross County garners its first UICFlames.com SAOW accolade as men's soccer player Ivan Stanisavljevic picked up the inaugural laurel last week.
The Flames return to action on Friday (Sept. 7) at the Northern Illinois Invitational in DeKalb, Ill. with a scheduled start time of 5:45 p.m. CT.
