CHICAGO - Six UIC baseball players were selected to the 2013 Madness Horizon League Preseason All-Conference Teams as recently announced by College Sports Madness. The Flames tied defending-league champions Valparaiso for the most selections. Junior Jon Ryan was the lone Flame to be named on the first team, one of just three Horizon League outfielders to earn the distinction.
The second team was comprised of pitchers Joey Begel and Brian Evak, infielders Alex Grunenwald and Joe Betcher and utility man Alex De LaRosa.
The Flames begin their 2013 campaign at nationally-ranked Texas A&M on Feb. 15 with a three-game series.
