CHICAGO - Men's tennis player Maurizio Feoli has been chosen as the UICFlames.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Jan. 14-20. Feoli earned the Horizon League's Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week award for his performances against Western Michigan and Chicago State.
On Friday against the Broncos, Feoli was able to overcome a first-set deficit to capture the win playing as the sixth seed, 4-6, 7-6 (8-2), 6-4. In facing the Cougars on Saturday, the Costa Rican dominated in the No. 5 slot, winning the match 6-1, 6-0 to help UIC sweep Chicago State, 7-0. Feoli also teamed up with Christian Cole in the No. 2 doubles for an 8-6 victory against CSU.
Feoli is the first men's tennis player to garner the UICFlames.com accolade since its inception at the start of the 2012-13 athletic season.
The men's tennis team will resume action this Saturday in Milwaukee, Wis. against Marquette, with play beginning at 3 p.m. CT.
