EVANSTON, Ill. - The UIC women's basketball team (0-2) hung tough with Northwestern (1-0) in the first half before the Wildcats pulled away for a 79-63 victory Sunday at Welsh-Ryan Arena. UIC trimmed the Northwestern lead to 38-34 on two Hannemann free throws with 33 seconds left in the half. Devon Brookshire's layup with one second remaining gave the Wildcats a six-point lead at the break.

Two more Hannemann free throws cut the Northwestern lead back to four at 42-38 with 18:28 left in the second half but that was the closest UIC would get. Campbell's free throw at 4:11 trimmed the Wildcat advantage to ten at 70-60 but Northwestern closed out the game on a 9-3 run.
