Box Score

CHICAGO - The UIC men's basketball team (5-15, 0-6) fell victim to superior three-point shooting by Cleveland State (12-9, 4-3) on Wednesday night as the Vikings came away with the 74-64 road win. CSU shot 10-of-15 (67%) from behind the arc, the highest single-game percentage among all Horizon League teams this season. Sophomore Jake Wiegand tallied one of his top performances as a Flame with a career-high 17 points and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds.

The Vikings' first nine points came from behind the arc as they jumped out to an 11-4 advantage and led the entire game. UIC was ice-cold in the first half, hitting just 9-of-29 from the field and 1-of-9 from the outside. CSU's Bryn Forbes led all scorers at the break with 12 points, including three treys, and finished with a game-high 20.

Facing a six-point deficit at halftime, the Flames landed the first punch in the second period off a Wiegand layup to pull within four. The 6-foot-8 power forward recorded 13 of his team-high 17 points in the second half, going 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Cleveland State's 29-25 lead with 18:30 left to play was the closest UIC got to the Vikings for the remainder of the night.

The Flames did have momentum after a Barlow triple at the 5:18 mark, making it a 55-49 CSU edge, but the Vikings had an answer for every UIC bucket down the stretch.

Senior Hayden Humes made history tonight as he moves into 10th-place all-time on UIC's career made threes list with 117. Humes also ranks second in the Horizon League among active players in career treys behind preseason conference Player of the Year Kendrick Perry of YSU.

Junior Jay Parker posted two career-highs against CSU with six assists and 37 minutes played. He also shot 4-of-5 from the field for 10 points.

The Flames received solid play from 6-foot-10 center Will Simonton who chipped in a season-high six points in just 13 minutes of action.

UIC hits the road for the next two games, starting with Oakland on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT and then travels to Detroit for a 6 p.m. contest next Wednesday night.
