Denver forced sophomore goalkeeper
Andrew Putna to make two saves in the following four minutes, while they attempted six total shots in the first half, including a header saved by Putna in the final minute.
A team save by UIC in the opening of the second prevented the Pioneers from scoring again, as Putna came up with his fourth and final save of the night in the 54th minute.
The Flames will return to their Horizon League schedule as they head to Green Bay, Wis., on Wednesday (Oct. 15) to take on the Phoenix at 7 p.m. CT at Santaga Stadium.
