As the 68th season of UIC men's basketball begins to take shape, UICFlames.com will be highlighting the 2014-15 newcomers during the next several weeks, giving fans an inside scoop on the fresh faces that head coach Howard Moore will have in his arsenal for the upcoming campaign.

Getting to Know the Newcomers kicks off with 6-foot-9 freshman Tai Odiase. The Chicago area native put up huge numbers during his senior season at Homewood-Flossmoor, averaging 17.4 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game. ESPN rated Odiase as the state's fifth-best center and the #25-rated recruit in Illinois. Odiase earned all-state accolades as he helped his Vikings claim regional and sectional championships. The athletic big man also played AAU hoops for the Meanstreets, a Chicago-based squad whose most recent notable alumni include Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans.
