CHICAGO -- Select members of the UIC dance team recently traveled to the other side of the world to perform at the Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Arts Festival in China.
The experienced Dancing Flames who who were chosen to journey to the fourth-largest nation in the world to perform were senior captain Emma Rudolph, senior captain Bethanie Doggett, senior captain Inna Tereshko and junior Tiffany Kim. The quartet was also accompanied by UIC Spirit Coordinator and Dancing Flames head coach Lindsey Lococo and assistant coach Katie DiCianni.
The Dancing Flames represented Team USA along with other Chicago dance companies Pro Dance Elite and The Puzzle League. The entire group of 20 performers dance at the ninth annual Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Arts Festival. The tour included 14 stops over eight days and it took the group to Shanghai University, local elementary schools, park festivals and more. The Dancing Flames also had the opportunity to perform in the Baoshan Arts parade where they were honored to perform in front of many Chinese diplomats, including President Xi Jinping.
