CHICAGO -- UIC Director of Athletics Jim Schmidt met with Army Colonel Andrew Morgado, Command Sergeant Major Donald Waterhouse and members of the UIC Army ROTC unit on Monday morning. The purpose of the meeting was to plan for 2015-16 and thank the ROTC unit for its service and support of UIC Athletics.

"We are honored and proud of our continued relationship with the military," said Jim Schmidt, Director of Athletics. "The pride we all share for these decorated veterans at UIC competitions is special and our athletes and fans get great energy from honoring these individuals."

Athletics and UIC ROTC has partnered the past four years to recognize and honor members from the four armed service branches with the "Military Moment" during men's basketball games and other competitions. The honored veteran and their guest are treated to a pre-game meal in the Dragon's Den, courtside seats and a special moment of recognition at half court during the game.
