CHICAGO - UIC (9-2) endured a 25-minute delay due to a leak in the roof and 20 minutes of sleepwalking in the first half to pull out a 66-54 win over Eastern Illinois (1-11) at the Pavilion.

Eastern Illinois sprinted out to an early lead before the Flames battled back to take a 12-9 advantage when the roof began to leak. Following a 25-minute stoppage in play for cleanup and repair the Panthers built a 10 point lead as the Flames suffered through a 5:27 scoring drought and trailed 32-27 at halftime.

In the second half UIC awoke from their slumber as they raced out to a 38-34 lead in part to an 11-2 run to begin the period. Ruvanna Campbell (28 points, nine rebounds) scored 12 of UIC's 23 points in the period and the Flames used an attacking man-to-man defense that limited Eastern Illinois to just six points. Campbell scored 21 of her game-high 28 points in the second half, Melita Emanuel-Carr added 13 and Caitlin Garant chipped in 11 along with a career-high six assists and three steals.

The Flames wrapped up the non-conference portion of the season with nine wins for the third season in a row and head into Horizon League play beginning Wednesday. UIC will travel to Wright State on Wednesday and then onto Northern Kentucky for a Friday evening contest.

In the preseason coaches poll UIC was picked to finish third in the Horizon League. It is the highest predicted finish for the Flames since the inception of the league in 2001.
