CHICAGO - Senior Gabrielle May has been named the Midwest Independent Conference Co-Gymnast of the Week for the period of March 10-16, the conference announced Wednesday. The team captain earns the title for the second time this season following her stellar performance in her final regular season meet with UIC.

May set a new career-best all-around score (39.225) in Sunday's victory over Southeast Missouri to take first place overall. She placed first in every event on Sunday with the exception of beam, where she tied-for-third. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, native tied her career-high 9.875 on floor, tied her season-best on bars with a 9.825 and earned her second-highest beam score of the season with a 9.725.

May heads into this weekend's MIC Championships ranked first in the conference in the all-around category with a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 38.905. May also ranks third on bars (9.790) and fourth on floor (9.795).

The women's gymnastics team will compete alongside May this weekend at the MIC Championships on Saturday, March 21 at 4 p.m. at the Kitty Magee Arena in Denton, Texas.
