CHICAGO -- Newly-hired UIC Chancellor Dr. Michael Amiridis joined the Flames' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for breakfast on the morning of April 28, 2015.
Dr. Amiridis spoke to the group about his former competitive days as a basketball player in Greece and also about his experiences with collegiate athletics at previous institutions. He underlined the importance of a successful athletic department and the larger role that it plays in representing the university. He then openly answered questions and ask for suggestions from the student-athlete group.
"I have been fortunate enough to meet with the Chancellor several times now and each time I leave more impressed than the last," said SAAC President Anne Jacobsen. "Quite frankly, it makes me sad that I am graduating. I'm thrilled to see what he has in store for UIC and athletics. I believe that many things that he said in our meeting align with what the student-athletes want. Good changes are in store and I can't wait to see them."
