The 2015-16 academic year begins in 66 days and UICFlames.com counts down the Top 25 Flames over the summer months (June 8-July 31). Each sport will be featured over eight weeks as we preview the upcoming year in UIC Athletics.

In this installment of 'Top 25 Flames for 2015-16', we will look at women's basketball's All-American candidate, senior Ruvanna Campbell. Campbell was selected as the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season after averaging 17.7 points and 14.1 rebounds per contest.

Campbell's 14.1 rebounds per game broke the Horizon League record of 13.7 held by Evansville's Christy Greis in 1991-92. She ranked third nationally in rebounds and sixth with 22 double-doubles. Campbell owns 48 double-doubles in 65 career appearances at UIC.

Campbell ranked third in the Horizon League with 2.3 steals per game and was the only player in the nation who averaged at least 17 points, 14 rebounds and two steals per game. A First-Team All-Horizon League selection, Campbell had 27 double-digit scoring performances with 12 20-point scoring efforts.

Campbell became the 20th member of UIC's 1,000-Point Club on Feb. 11 and currently sits 13th in program history with 1,129 points. She also ranks fifth in career rebounds (872), seventh in blocks (100) and ninth in field-goal percentage (.488).

Campbell leads a large senior class of six members into the 2015-16 season as the Flames look to get off to another fast start. UIC jumped out to an 8-1 record last season, which is the program's best nine-game start in the Division-I era (1981-present).

UIC ranked 13th nationally in rebounding margin (+9.0) and fourth in offensive rebounds per game (17.4). On defense, the Flames ranked 40th nationally in steals (10.1 spg) and 66th in scoring defense (59.5 ppg).
