Each sport will be featured over eight weeks as we preview the upcoming year in UIC Athletics. In this installment of 'Top 25 Flames for 2015-16', we will look at men's track and field multi-event competitor, sophomore
Michael Crepeau. Crepeau made a name for himself in his first season with the Flames as he tallied a total of seven first-place finishes during indoor and outdoor season, and was the winner of the men's decathlon at the 2015 Horizon League Outdoor Championships.
During the indoor season, Crepeau participated in eight competitions and achieved career bests in numerous events. A highlight of his season was as a member of the Flames' 4x4 relay team that captured first place with a time of 3:29.54 at the Tadd Metzger Invitational.
At the Horizon League Indoor Championships, Crepeau was one of the top three finishers in five events, with his top performances coming in the pole vault with second (3.23) and the heptathlon with third (4241).
Crepeau continued to dominate into the outdoor campaign and was able to place within the top three 18 times. He boasted several top performances at the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships, where he took the title in the 400m and placed second in the 100m, 1500m, long jump and decathlon.
His freshman year ended on a high note as he was deemed the decathlon champion at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships after he tallied 6,087 points. He won the 400m, 100m, long jump and discus while he also set personal bests in nine of the 10 events.
