Steve McClain was hired as the 11th head men's basketball coach in program history on March 23, 2015. During the spring months, McClain added seven newcomers to the roster and three members to his coaching staff.

The full 2015-16 squad began summer workouts on June 15 and UICFlames.com will feature members of the program each week leading up to the start of the season. This week's video features freshman center Julian Torres.



TORRES' HIGHLIGHTS
- Ranked as the No. 3 center in the state of Illinois and the 44th-ranked player overall, according to PrepHoopsIllinois.com.
- Guided the Raiders to a third-place finish in the 2015 4A State Championships, the highest finish in program history.
- Competed for the Mac Irvin Fire on the AAU Circuit where he averaged 10.9 points per game.
- Competed in the FIBA U17 World Championships and the FIBA U18 Americas Championship for the Puerto Rican National Team during the summer of 2014.
