Steve McClain was hired as the 11th head men's basketball coach in program history on March 23, 2015. During the spring months, McClain added seven newcomers to the roster and three members to his coaching staff.

The full 2015-16 squad began summer workouts on June 15 and UICFlames.com will feature members of the program each week leading up to the start of the season. This week's video features freshman forward Hassan Thomas.



THOMAS' HIGHLIGHTS
- No. 3 ranked power forward in the state of Texas, according to ESPN.com
- Earned 5A first-team All-State honors his senior season, along with All-Region and All-District accolades
- Was a candidate for Texas' 5A Mr. Basketball
- Averaged 13 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks per game as a senior
