Schedule Link Printable Schedule CHICAGO - The 2015-16 UIC men's basketball non-league schedule was announced Wednesday (August 5) by first-year head coach Steve McClain. UIC will play host to Big Ten program Illinois at the United Center on Dec. 12, which will be the fifth meeting between the two schools at the UC since 2003-04.
UIC will also play host to San Francisco (Nov. 13), Roosevelt (Nov. 24), DePaul (Dec. 2), Illinois State (Dec. 16), Purdue-Calumet (Dec. 22) and Northern Illinois (Dec. 29). The Flames will make road trips to Western Illinois (Nov. 17), Drake (Nov. 28), Central Florida (Dec. 5) and Loyola (Dec. 19).
UIC hosts a total of six in-state opponents during non-league action, which is the most in program history. The Flames' non-league schedule includes three teams from the Missouri Valley Conference in addition to programs from the Big East Conference, Big Ten Conference and American Athletic Conference.
"We have put together a great schedule to get us ready for Horizon League play," said McClain. "Our home schedule includes Illinois at the United Center, DePaul, Illinois State, San Francisco and Northern Illinois."
For its season opener on Nov. 13, UIC will match up with San Francisco for the first time in program history. The Dons are consistently one of the best teams in the highly-competitive West Coast Conference and have made 15 NCAA Tournament appearances in program history.
UIC takes on Western Illinois in Macomb for the first time since 2012 on Nov. 17. The Flames and Fighting Leathernecks have played 36 times as UIC has won 20 of those matchups.
UIC breaks for Thanksgiving and returns to action Nov. 28 at Drake, who is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). The Bulldogs and Flames will meet for the ninth time in the all-time series.
UIC returns to Chicago on Dec. 2 as the Flames play host to city-rival and Big East Conference member DePaul. The contest at the UIC Pavilion will be the ninth all-time meeting between the two programs.
UIC plays Central Florida, a member of the American Athletic Conference, for the second straight season on Dec. 5 as the Flames make a trip to Orlando. A week later (Dec. 12), UIC and Illinois will matchup for the 16th time.
The Flames stay in Chicago to play host to Illinois State of the MVC on Dec. 16. The Redbirds went 22-13 and advanced to the second round of the NIT under head coach Dan Muller last season. The contest will be the 22nd all-time meeting between the schools and the first since Dec. 2010.
UIC and city-rival Loyola, who won the 2015 College Basketball Invitational, will meet at Gentile Arena on Dec. 19 for the 55th contest in the all-time series. The Flames hold a 30-24 record against the Ramblers, who are members of the MVC.
UIC concludes its non-conference season at home against Mid-American Conference member Northern Illinois on Dec. 29. The contest will mark the 40th meeting between the Flames and Huskies with UIC emerging victorious on 24 occasions.
