2015-16 schedule

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The UIC men's basketball team will open the 2015-16 Horizon League slate with six of its first eight games on the road as announced by the conference office on Thursday. The 18-game league schedule begins on Jan. 2 at Valparaiso.

The Flames tip off with three straight road contests, beginning at defending league champion Valparaiso on Jan. 2. UIC will then journey to Detroit (Jan. 8) and Oakland (Jan. 10).

UIC opens the home conference portion with a Thursday night matchup against Green Bay on Jan. 14. Two days later on Jan. 16, the Flames welcome Milwaukee to the UIC Pavilion.

After a brief home stand, the Flames are again on the road for three in a row, traveling to Cleveland State (Jan. 18), first-year conference member Northern Kentucky (Jan. 22) and Wright State (Jan. 24).

"With six out of the first eight games on the road we will have a big challenge for a young team," said first-year head coach Steve McClain. "The second half of conference play we will have a great home schedule to get our team ready for postseason play."

UIC returns to the Pavilion for seven of its next eight games on Jan. 28 to face Youngstown State and Cleveland State (Jan. 30) to close out the month.

February begins with a Saturday tilt against Valparaiso on Feb. 6 at the Pavilion. UIC will battle Wright State on Feb. 11 followed by Northern Kentucky's first ever visit to Chicago on Feb. 13. The Flames will trek to Ohio and face Youngstown State (Feb. 16) before concluding the home schedule against Detroit (Feb. 19) and Oakland on Feb. 21.

The Flames conclude conference play with a two-game swing through Wisconsin on Feb. 26 at Green Bay and Feb. 28 at Milwaukee.

The Horizon League conference tournament, hosted by Olympia Entertainment, will take place at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on March 5-8, 2016.
