Men’s Soccer to Face NIU Tuesday Night

Flames enter into non-conference match having won last three games

The UIC men's soccer team (4-5-1) will step away from Horizon League play as it gets set for an in-state matchup Tuesday night at Northern Illinois (1-5-2). Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT at the NIU Soccer Complex in DeKalb, Ill.
 
The Flames are in the midst of a three-game win streak after defeating Northern Kentucky, 4-0, (Oct. 1) at home for the team's third shutout in Horizon League play. Gonzalo Romo, Jose Fuentes, Kyle Hamann and Max Todd scored, with Fuentes and Todd turning out three-point performances after each adding an assist. Goalkeeper Andrew Putna made two saves while he garnered his third shutout of the year and maintained his perfect 0.00 goals-against-average against conference opponents.
 
UIC has scored 13 goals this season with eight coming in the last three games. Todd and Fuentes own a team-best four each, as Todd has collected four assists to lead with 12 points. The pair additionally paces the Flames with a combined 43 shots with 24 on goal.
 
Putna has managed to make 24 saves in more than 750 minutes in goal while he owns a 1.56 goals-against-average.
 
Northern Illinois most recently fell in a 2-0 decision to IUPUI on the road after it claimed its lone win of the season against Milwaukee, 2-1.
 
The Huskies have scored four goals this season with tallies from Kevin Rodriguez (2), Richard Hall and Max Voss, with Hall and Christian Molina collecting the two assists. A total of 70 shots have been taken, with Molina and Albert Levett the lone players reaching double digits in their attempts with 11 each.
 
Drew Donnolly has played every game in goal for NIU, making 28 saves on 98 shots faced to collect a 1.78 goals-against-average.
 
The Flames hold a 10-7-0 all-time series advantage over the Huskies and a record of 5-4-0 in games played on the road. The two teams last met in 2014, with NIU coming away with the 1-0 win.
