ROCHESTER, Mich. - The UIC women's tennis team (12-6, 6-1 HL) snapped a six-match win streak with a 4-3 loss to Oakland (10-9, 3-5 HL) on Sunday. The Flames dropped their first Horizon League match on the season in their first loss since March 22.

Ann-Sophie Hahn and Melika LeBlanc started off doubles competition at No. 2 against Karine Celis and Juliana Guevara and fell 6-2. Oana Manole and Rachel Le Comber faced off against Tamara Blum and Elizabeth Guy at No. 1 and took a 6-4 loss to put UIC in a 0-1 hole.

The No. 3 doubles match between Bianca Zuzu/ Jackie Altansarnai and Daria Artamonova/ Sofia Borcuti went unfinished.

Le Comber led off singles play for the Flames at No. 5, and earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Borcuti to bring the match to a 1-1 tie. Zuzu gave UIC the lead with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Guevara in the No. 6 spot.

Altansarnai fell 6-2, 6-3 to Blum in the No. 1 position, and LeBlanc was edged out at No. 4 by Artamonova, 7-6, 7-6 to allow Oakland to take a 3-2 lead.

Hahn fought to bring the match back to a tie with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 win in the No. 2 spot against Guy, and Manole took a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 loss to Celis in the No. 3 spot to allow the Golden Grizzlies to edge past The Flames.

UIC will return home to finish out the regular season next weekend, facing Cleveland State on Saturday (April 23) and Youngstown State on Sunday (April 24).
