Women's Tennis Earns Second Straight Conference Win

CHICAGO
- The UIC women's tennis team (8-5, 2-0 HL) defeated fellow Horizon League-member Wright State (13-7, 1-3 HL) on Saturday afternoon at XS Tennis. Saturday's victory allowed the Flames to maintain their perfect 28-0 series record against the Raiders.

Oana Manole and Rachel Le Comber defeated Taylor Culbertson and Tori Turner 6-4 at No. 1 doubles to start the afternoon. Ann-Sophie Hahn and Melika LeBlanc earned their sixth straight victory at No. 2 with a 6-2 win over Karoline Haller and Linsey Verstrepen to secure the doubles point.

The No. 3 doubles match between Jackie Altansarnai and Bianca Zuzu and Elaine Cloern and Megan Brdicka went unfinished.

In singles, Altansarnai fell to Haller 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1, and Hahn was defeated by Verstrepen at No. 2, 7-5, 2-6, 7-5.

Manole added a point for the Flames against Cloern at No. 3, 5-7, 6-2, 10-8, while LeBlanc defeated Culbertson 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 4 position.

Le Comber was victorious at No. 5 against Turner, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Zuzu also earned a victory at No. 6, 6-3, 6-0 to give the Flames the final two points.

The Flames will take on Northern Kentucky tomorrow at 1 p.m. at XS Tennis.
