MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The UIC women's tennis team (10-5, 4-0 HL) took its fourth straight Horizon League victory on Saturday afternoon with a 4-3 win over Milwaukee (8-8, 2-2 HL) at North Shore Elite.
The Flames got off to a solid start in doubles play, starting with Oana Manole and Rachel Le Comber defeating Laurie Clark and Alysa Straub in the No. 1 spot, 6-3. Ann-Sophie Hahn and Melika LeBlanc secured the doubles point in the No. 2 spot with a 6-3 win against Hayley Marshall and Labina Petrovska.
The No. 3 doubles match between Jackie Altansarnai/Bianca Zuzu and Dana Shannon/Masha Lobanova went unfinished.
UIC swept the first three singles matches to earn the win, led by Altansarnai's 6-2, 6-4 win against Petrovska. Hahn earned a 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over Marshall at No. 2, while Manole registered a 6-3, 6-1 straight-set win against Clark at No. 3.
Straub edged out LeBlanc in the No. 4 spot, 7-6 (4), 7-5, and Le Comber was brought down by Shannon at No. 5, 7-5, 6-1. Zuzu was defeated by Aerielle Pendelton at No. 6, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
The Flames seek their fifth-straight Conference victory tomorrow against Green Bay at 10 a.m.
