CHICAGO – UIC head women's soccer coach
Brian Rigby announced on Thursday the addition of transfer
Katy Karabetsos to the 2016 Flames roster. Karabetsos heads to the Windy City after playing collegiately at San Jose State and Cal State LA.
"We are very excited to welcome Katy back home to Chicago after spending two years on the west coast," said Rigby. "Katy is a player who brings more quality to our program and increases our depth and options in the midfield. She will help us dedicate a tempo and rhythm and is comfortable and accurate with her long-range and short-range distribution. Katy has a great understanding of the game, and will provide continued leadership to our group of women. We are excited and very happy to be adding her to the mix."
A Buffalo Grove, Ill., native, Karabetsos is the second transfer for UIC after adding
Anna Brusco in late June. She additionally becomes the eighth newcomer as she is joined by freshmen
Morgan Carey,
Tamae Douglas,
Tara Khayam,
Cassidy Privett,
Alex Salgado,
Madison Smith and
Emily Valentine.
UIC's 28-person roster will be led by its 19 letterwinners in three seniors, 11 juniors, four sophomores and a redshirt freshman.
