DAYTON, Ohio – The UIC men's soccer team (1-5-1, 1-1-0 HL) was unable to answer four goals scored by Wright State (4-3-0, 1-1-0 HL) in a span of seven minutes in the first half Saturday night as it dropped a 4-0 decision at Alumni Field.

Despite being kept to just one shot in the first half, the Flames came back to tally eight total shots in the match with three on goal.
Max Todd collected the most attempts with three and had two on goal.

Sokratis Vasilas earned his first collegiate start and made three saves, including two in the final minute of play.

Following four off-target shots, Wright State converted for the 1-0 lead in the 21st minute as Jackson Dietrich sent the ball in from the right side and had it hit off a UIC defender with Zach Zwiesler waiting to follow through with the goal.

The Raiders would go up 4-0 within the next seven minutes. It started in the 26th minute as Eric Lynch took a shot from the top right corner of the box that hooked into the opposite corner of the net. Peguy Ngatcha then beat Vasilas on a one-on-one opportunity in the 27th minute before scoring again 23 seconds later on a throw in and then pass from Zwiesler.

UIC was held without a shot during that time, before Fuentes got the lone opportunity of the half in the 34th minute on a strike from the top of the mark sent wide. It was the first time since facing DePaul last season that the Flames had just one shot in a half.

Into the second stanza, UIC was quicker in its offensive effort as Todd took a shot and sent it high seven minutes in, with Cervantes following on an attempt shot wide two minutes later.

The first chance on goal of the game for the Flames came in the 60th minute when Guzman took a swipe at the ball from 30 yards out that forced Wright State's Joel Sundell to make the save. Cervantes took the ball in five minutes later but banked it into the side of the net.

The possession remained in favor of UIC and Jimenez had the next chance in the 73rd minute that went high before Todd spread out a pair of shots over the next four minutes that were both saved. The Raiders had the final two shots of the match that forced Vasilas to make both saves.

The Flames are back at home Tuesday as they are set to face Drake in a non-conference contest at Flames Field at 7 p.m. CT. It will be the first meeting between the programs since 2014, when UIC picked up a 1-0 win in double overtime on the road.
