Flames Set for Tuesday Night Matchup with Drake

UIC seeking to improve on 1-2-0 home record

CHICAGO –
The UIC men's soccer team (1-5-1) will take to the pitch at Flames Field Tuesday night for a non-conference tilt with Missouri Valley's Drake (3-4-0) at 7 p.m. CT.
 
The Flames suffered a 4-0 loss in Horizon League action over the weekend at Wright State. The squad was held to eight shots in the match led by three from Max Todd, while the Raiders fired off 15 attempts and scored their four goals in a span of seven minutes. Sokratis Vasilas played the complete game and made three saves between the pipes.
 
UIC has been kept to five goals on the year, with its most recent tally coming against Milwaukee (Sept. 10) in a 1-0 victory. Todd (2), Jose Fuentes, Oscar Rivero and Yuri Domiciano are responsible for the goals, as Todd additionally boasts two of the four assists. A total of 66 shots have been taken with 28 on goal, with Todd at the top of the field with 11 shots and seven on target.
 
Andrew Putna has served the most minutes in goal in this season as he has accumulated 16 saves, one shutout and a 2.05 goals-against-average. Vasilas has only appeared in two games, against DePaul and Wright State, and has made a combined eight saves.
 
Drake heads to Chicago after opening MVC play with a 1-0 loss to No. 18 Loyola on Saturday (Sept. 17). Its wins on the year have come against CSU Bakersfield, Milwaukee and UMKC, while it originally defeated Green Bay, 2-1, before having to forfeit the game due to use of an ineligible player.
 
The Bulldogs have put up nine goals with Steven Enna and James Wypych leading the way with three apiece. Wypych additionally leads the team in assists (3), points (9), shots (13) and is tied for most shots on goal (5). The team had collectively put up 65 shots with 29 on goal.
 
Darrin MacLeod has played every minute in goal for Drake, registering 25 saves, a .714 save percentage, two shutouts and a 1.41 goals-against-average.
 
In the all-time series, the Flames own a 4-2-0 record against the Bulldogs with a mark of 2-1-0 in games played at Flames Field. During their last meeting in 2014, UIC posted a 1-0 victory in double overtime on the road.
