CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team will head to Milwaukee, Wis., for a 10 a.m. CT matchup Saturday against Marquette at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. It will be the 27th meeting in the all-time series with the Golden Eagles.
The Flames opened up their dual season last Saturday (Jan. 21) with a decisive 5-2 win over Toledo. After dropping the doubles point, UIC used five singles wins from
Oana Manole,
Georgie Sanders,
Bianca Zuzu,
Miranda Rodriguez Diaz de Leon and
Rachel Le Comber to close out the match, with Sanders and Le Comber taking their matches in straight sets.
Saturday's match will be the first of the dual season for Marquette, as it is also set to face Green Bay in the evening. After three fall tournaments, the Golden Eagles kicked off their spring with a stint at the Hoosier Invitational (Jan. 14-16), where they posted 11 wins through doubles and singles led by Diana Tokar and Paula Tormos Sanchez.
Marquette holds a 23-3 record in the all-time series with UIC after it took a 6-1 win last season. The two teams have met in seven of the last 10 seasons all in Milwaukee.
